The Star Tarot Year Card
A year of renewal, hope and reconnecting with your sense of purpose.
What a Star year means
The Star shows a figure kneeling by a pool under a bright star, pouring water onto the land and back into the pool. Coming straight after the upheaval of The Tower, it is the card of calm and healing. As a year card it describes a year of renewed hope: recovering, rediscovering what inspires you, and believing again that things can get better.
Star years tend to be gentle rather than dramatic. Progress comes from small, steady acts of faith: working on a dream, sharing your gifts openly and letting yourself be seen. It is a good year for creative and spiritual work, and for anything that serves a bigger vision.
Seventeen reduces to 8, Strength, the background theme: hope works best alongside patience and quiet persistence.
The Star is the rarest year card of the decade with Greer's method. 2026 is the first year it can appear at all, and then only for December 31 birthdays; in 2027 only December 30 birthdays get it. If another calculator gave you The Star, it was probably using a different method.

Who has The Star as their year card in 2026 and 2027?
With Greer's method your year card depends only on what your birth month and day add up to. In 2026, The Star is the year card for anyone whose month + day comes to 43: 1 birthday: December 31. In 2027 the total is 42, which gives 1 birthday: December 30.
December 31, 2026: 12 + 31 + 2026 = 2069 → 2 + 0 + 6 + 9 = 17 → The Star
Before and after a Star year
Everyone with The Star in 2026 had The Tower as their 2025 year card, and all of them move on to The Hermit in 2027. Most years the card moves forward one step, but when your total crosses into a new decade (2049 to 2050, for example) the digits reset and the card drops back. That is why some birthdays jump between The Star and The Hermit.
These dates follow the calendar year, as in Greer's method. If you count your year from birthday to birthday instead, your Star year runs from your birthday in that year to your next one. When does a year card start?
