What a Strength year means
In the Rider–Waite–Smith deck, Strength shows a woman calmly closing a lion's jaws. She is not fighting the lion; she is calming it. As a year card Strength describes twelve months in which your quieter qualities, such as patience, persistence, compassion and self-control, get you further than force ever could.
A Strength year often brings a situation that tests your nerve: a health goal, a difficult person, a fear you have avoided, or a long stretch where results come slowly. The lesson is staying with it. Courage here looks less like a charge and more like showing up again tomorrow.
This site uses Rider–Waite–Smith numbering, where Strength is 8 and Justice is 11. In older Marseille-style decks the two are swapped, so if your deck numbers Strength as 11, read the Justice year card as well.
Work, love and inner life
Work and money: Long projects that need stamina, and situations where calm leadership works better than pressure.
Love and relationships: Patience and tenderness, especially with someone who is struggling. Strong feelings are better understood than suppressed.
Inner life: Building habits, facing fears, and looking after your body and energy.

With Greer's method your year card depends only on what your birth month and day add up to. In 2026, Strength is the year card for anyone whose month + day comes to 7, 16, 25 or 34: 40 birthdays (about 11% of the year). In 2027 the totals are 6, 15, 24 or 33, which gives 39 birthdays (about 11% of the year).

Before and after a Strength year
Of the people with Strength in 2026, 30 had The Chariot and 10 had The Tower in 2025, and all of them move on to The Hermit in 2027. Most years the card moves forward one step, but when your total crosses into a new decade (2049 to 2050, for example) the digits reset and the card drops back. That is why some birthdays jump between Strength and The Tower.
