Wheel of Fortune Tarot Year Card
A year of turning points, changing luck and good timing.
What a Wheel of Fortune year means
The Wheel of Fortune is the card of cycles: figures rise and fall around a wheel that never stops turning. As a year card it describes a year in which circumstances shift, sometimes quickly and sometimes in your favour, and timing matters more than usual.
A Wheel year often brings a turning point: a lucky break, an unexpected offer, or the end of one chapter and the start of another. The card can't promise good fortune, but it does suggest that things are moving. The skill is noticing when an opportunity appears and being ready to act on it.
Ten reduces to 1, The Magician, which sits behind this year as a background theme: when the wheel turns, take the initiative and use the tools you already have.
2026 itself adds up to 10 (2 + 0 + 2 + 6), so Wheel of Fortune is also the general tarot card of the year 2026 for everyone. If it is your personal year card too, its themes come through twice as strongly.
Work, love and inner life
Work and money: Opportunities, changes of direction and being in the right place at the right time. Keep your options open.
Love and relationships: Chance meetings and changing circumstances. A relationship may move on to a new stage.
Inner life: Learning to work with change instead of resisting it, and spotting the patterns that repeat in your life.

What to watch for

- Am I ready to act if an opportunity appears tomorrow?
Who has Wheel of Fortune as their year card in 2026 and 2027?
With Greer's method your year card depends only on what your birth month and day add up to. In 2026, Wheel of Fortune is the year card for anyone whose month + day comes to 9, 18, 27 or 36: 40 birthdays (about 11% of the year). In 2027 the totals are 8, 17, 26 or 35, which gives 39 birthdays (about 11% of the year).
January 8, 2026: 1 + 8 + 2026 = 2035 → 2 + 0 + 3 + 5 = 10 → Wheel of Fortune

Before and after a Wheel of Fortune year
Everyone with Wheel of Fortune in 2026 had The Hermit as their 2025 year card, and all of them move on to Justice in 2027. Each year the card moves forward one step, so it is worth reading the cards on either side as the story of where this year comes from and where it leads.
These dates follow the calendar year, as in Greer's method. If you count your year from birthday to birthday instead, your Wheel of Fortune year runs from your birthday in that year to your next one. When does a year card start?
